Endowed Chair in Catholic Education Leadership

St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking applicants for appointment to a newly-endowed chair in Catholic Education Leadership, effective August 2019.

The chair’s responsibilities will include program development, faculty and staff supervision, course development in both traditional and online formats, and teaching in a St. Mary’s graduate program in Catholic Education Leadership.  The successful applicant will have knowledge in finance, law, and organizational management; experience as a department chair or other comparable leadership role in the field of education; and expertise in Catholic (K-12) education theory and practice. The degree program will be interdisciplinary, drawing from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Greehey School of Business, the School of Law, and the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, and will work closely with the Center for Catholic Studies. The Endowed chair’s appointment will be in the Department of Education (https://www.stmarytx.edu/academics/department/education/).

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Education or appropriate field; evidence a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, program development and evaluation, teamwork, service, and requisite experience to provide leadership in the department either as chair or in other program management roles.  As a faculty member at St. Mary’s University, the Endowed Chair will engage in scholarly activity,  teaching, and advising in support of the department of education at St. Mary’s; participate in curriculum revision and assessment; assist with Texas state teacher certification; perform  University and community service; and relate well to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater University community.
