Chaminade University

St. Mary's University

University of Dayton

The mission of the Association of Marianist Universities is to support, promote and advance Marianist higher education.  We do this by facilitating an environment to sustain cooperation and the exchange of experience and information among our three universities. AMU represents Marianist higher education at the national and international levels and contributes to the formation of leaders in the Catholic and Marianist educational traditions in their service to the Church and world.

The only Catholic university in Hawaii, Chaminade University offers a rich educational environment with a dedicated, involved faculty, small class sizes and a safe, beautiful campus

St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s University – the oldest Catholic university in Texas and the Southwest – is a nationally recognized liberal arts institution that provides students with personal attention and powerful academic programs.

University of Dayton

Founded in 1850 on a 125-acre farm, today the University of Dayton is the largest private university in Ohio – and is recognized as a top-tier national research university with a student-centered learning environment.

Chaminade University of Honolulu, St. Mary’s University of San Antonio and the University of Dayton embody the Marianist spirit of educating the heart and mind to create learning that lasts and inspiring relationships that serve. The Association of Marianist Universities builds on a strong history of collaboration and common mission – and draws on the example of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Society of Mary – to create environments that let students thrive.

Faith in action
for the common good.

The characteristics of Marianist education are rooted in an ideal embodied in Mary, the Mother of Jesus. As members of the Marianist family, our faith – and our commitment to bringing the message and person of Jesus to others – moves us to action for the common good. We come together as a community of faith and love in our common search for the truth. And when we work together with a deep sense of mission, we can engage in a collaborative effort to understand and improve the world.     LEARN MORE

Marianists Change Lives

tell us how your life was changed

The Marianist Educational Associates has given me a change to connect with others trying to bring the spirit of Chaminade’s intentions into their own lives and their work.

Kathe Lehman-Meyer

St. Mary's Universty

When I arrived in San Antonio with my nuclear family of four in 1976, they became our extended family, and gave me enthusiastic encouragement. Whatever I have accomplished in those 41 years I owe to the Marianists and the Marianist Charism.

Rosemarie Wahl, BS, MS, PhD

St. Mary's Universty

It was through the process of learning about the Marianist charism that I chose to become Catholic. I felt a calling to contribute to the mission of something beyond me. I began working at UD in 2004. Being welcomed wasn’t just people being nice. Being welcomed meant they cared for me and encouraged me to grow, engage and help others to grow.

The priests and brothers who taught me when I was a student at St. Mary’s had a profound impact on my life and my work as a teacher.  When I had the opportunity to come back to St. Mary’s and teach, I was thrilled!  I see my vocation here as continuing the work of my teachers and becoming a MEA has brought me closer to the heart of the Marianist mission every day of my life.
